Music is a Gift

We believe music is a gift from God that is used to glorify Him, uplift the worshiper, and give expression to our faith.
We never consider the music included in worship to be a “performance,” but rather make it our goal to serve the Lord by leading His people in worship.
There are opportunities for all ages, from the youngest to the oldest in our community, to join in this ministry. In addition to the programs highlighted on this web page, there are ways for artists, writers, and those interested in drama and dance to share their gifts too.
To find out more about how you can be involved in First’s music ministry, please contact Worship Director Melanie Kilgore.

Choirs and Praise Team

Our choirs and praise teams inspire worshipers, and lead the congregation in song. We embrace a wide variety of musical styles that include songs of praise, prayers, and Biblical texts.

The choir is a caring community that welcomes all high school youth and adults who love to praise God by singing together. The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.

The Bells of Joy Handbell Choir meets on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. to prepare music to share in worship.

Our Praise Team singers love to praise God through vocal music. The Praise Team enjoys leading congregational singing at most of our worship services. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.

Worship Ministry

Along with vocals and instruments, First Church embraces creative and meaningful expressions of our faith and praise brought through active worship participation.

You can offer your gifts in dance, drama, visual arts, and/or technical skills. All of these offerings will help to further the Gospel message!

Instrumental Groups

Make a joyful noise! First Church has a variety of musical events throughout the year that allow you to learn a new instrument or play something you already know.

During special Sunday services, we have a handbell choir, church orchestra, flute choir, and jazz bands that you can join.

See our “Events” page for scheduled practice times, or view our bulletin announcements noted in each Sunday’s bulletin.
