A Lamp in the Darkness

Preacher:
Passage: Psalm 27

With the Psalmist, we sing with such bold confidence in the light and salvation of God precisely at those moments when we are filled with fear.  We sing our way into belief.  Our singing is not escape from the fearful realities that we face but rather a clinch-fisted determination to face those fears.  For the third Sunday of Epiphany we have a psalm that appropriately praises God as light, as my light and also my salvation, and then connects these two divine attributes - light and salvation - with fearlessness.
