Keeping the Faith
The Isaiah passage comes on the heels of the Babylonian exile. What these exiles need to hear, what they need to know and believe, what they need to trust and hold on to is the truth about who the Lord their God is. It's not a blind optimism. It's the reassurance that there is no one nowhere who can compare with the God of Israel. We can trust that even when we run out of strength in this life, that by being joined to Christ's death and resurrection we will still be renewed, given new bodies, new strength which will never run out.
