Mark’s account of the crucifixion of Jesus mirrors that of a Roman triumphal procession. The crucifixion of Jesus was not a defeat. It was a victory. God has turned the world’s kingdoms upside down because the way to power, the way to glory, and the way to influence, is the way of the cross. A willingness to sacrifice oneself for others.
