Deliverance #3: God’s Goodness in Action

Preacher:
Passage: Exodus 14:19-31

During this series of sermons, we will have the opportunity to reflect on the nature of Israel's God who promises deliverance to the captives and then keeps promising to preserve them in the Exodus from slavery to freedom.  What's the relevance for these ancient, core narratives for the church today?  Do we require the tricks that Moses performed before the doubters?  Or do we, like the Israelites, learn from our experience of God's graciousness that God is gracious and to be trusted?"  The slaves found that God had heard their groaning, had remembered the covenant made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and now was determined to deliver the slaves (Exodus 2:24-25).  God heard, God felt, and then God responded as Israel crossed the sea.
